Mary is in her early seventies.

When she first came to Vision PT Pyrmont, she wasn’t new to the idea of improving her health. In fact, she had spent years going through a familiar cycle many people know too well — losing weight, feeling better for a while, and then gradually seeing it return again until eventually she found herself starting over.

Over time, that pattern becomes tiring. Not just physically, but emotionally as well.

This time, Mary wasn’t simply looking for another short-term result. What she really wanted was something different — a way to feel stronger in her body, more consistent in her habits, and more confident in herself without constantly having to restart the journey.

Since joining Vision PT, Mary began to see health through a new lens.

She often talks about the four “E’s” — Emotion, Education, Exercise and Eating — and how these areas slowly started to shape the way she approached her daily life. It wasn’t one big moment that changed everything, but rather a series of small steps, conversations and discoveries that helped her understand how to work with her body instead of against it.

With support from the Vision PT team — Jason, Joel, Sachi and especially her trainer Mark — things gradually began to shift.

And over time, Mary noticed changes that went far beyond the scale.

Her strength improved and everyday movement became easier. Her posture naturally became more upright. Her endurance grew. But perhaps the most meaningful change was how her confidence quietly returned in ways she hadn’t expected.

What stood out most for Mary, however, was not simply the physical progress.

It was how she began to feel about the process itself.

What once felt like something she had to do slowly became something she genuinely looked forward to. The studio became more than a place to exercise — it became somewhere she enjoyed visiting each week, surrounded by encouragement, conversation and connection.

And along the way, she found something else she hadn’t expected.

Friendship.

Mary first joined with the goal of losing weight to improve her appearance. And yes, she achieved that — losing 9kg over nine months.

But when she reflects on her journey now, the number itself is no longer the main story.

What matters more is what came with it.

Feeling stronger.
Moving better.
Standing taller.
And building confidence in a way that feels sustainable rather than temporary.

Here are Mary’s own words:
" since joining Vision PT I have embraced the four “E”s of Emotion, Education, Exercise and Eating. Jason, Joel, Sachi, and the whole team, and especially my trainer Mark, have opened my eyes to new ways to approach all of those four “E”s.

Initially I wanted to lose weight to improve my appearance, and I have indeed lost 9 kg over nine months. But I have gained so much more: fitness, endurance, strength, better posture, and confidence. Also friends! This is such a friendly place that I look forward to my sessions here every week.”

We also want to recognise Mark for the role he has played in Mary’s journey.

Lasting transformation is rarely about perfection or extreme measures. More often, it comes from consistent support, guidance and accountability over time. Mark has done a wonderful job helping Mary stay focused, encouraged and confident throughout her journey, and we are proud to see the positive impact he continues to create.

And finally, we want to sincerely thank Mary for being willing to share her story — including her before photos.

We understand this is not always easy.

Sometimes old photos hold memories people would rather leave behind, and revisiting those moments can feel uncomfortable. That’s why we deeply appreciate Mary’s courage and generosity in sharing this part of her journey with others.

Her willingness to look back and share honestly may help someone else find the confidence to take their own first step.

At Vision PT Pyrmont, we are incredibly proud of Mary.

Not simply for the 9kg she lost — but for the strength, confidence and healthier lifestyle she continues to build.

Her story is a powerful reminder that meaningful change is possible at any stage of life when supported by the right environment, guidance and community.
