Meet Heather — one of our incredible community members who came to Vision wanting to rediscover her pre-COVID fitness and spark her motivation again. Over time, she’s built not only strength and endurance but also a real sense of belonging. Heather has lost over 15kgs since starting with Vision. Here, she shares her story in her own words — the wins, the wobbles, and what keeps her walking (literally!) toward new adventures.

What first brought you to Vision, and how were you feeling about your health and fitness back then?
Wanting to return to my pre-COVID fitness — I had gained weight and lost motivation, especially with my diet.

What’s one thing you’ve achieved here that still surprises you when you think about it?
Gaining some muscle definition and a general overall increase in endurance.

Can you describe what your journey has looked like since joining Vision – the highs, the hard bits, and what kept you going?
I was able to consistently lose weight slowly and nearly reach my goal weight over a 12-month period. I now find it difficult to maintain, especially when life gets busy and stressful.
My ever-encouraging trainer, Huynh, keeps me focused and on track — always with a gentle nudge!

How has being part of the Vision community made a difference for you – in or outside the gym?
I feel like I’ve found “my people” here — everyone is warm and welcoming, and I feel like I belong.

What would you say to someone who’s in the same shoes you were when you started – maybe nervous, unsure, or stuck?
If you’re looking to start or rejoin your fitness journey, the Vision team will tailor a program to guide you to achieve your goals in a safe, friendly, and supportive way.

What’s next for you – and how do you see everything you’ve learned here helping you stay strong and healthy long-term?
I have the tools to continue my journey. I just have to remember it’s not an “all-or-nothing attitude” when it comes to exercise and nutrition — it’s about staying consistent, getting back on track when you falter, and continuing on.
I’m looking forward to buckling up my walking boots and planning my hike from Florence to Siena next year!
