Since Starting with Vision Gladesville James has lost over 20KG in his first year and completely transformed his life, even Taking out Client of the year in 2024.

This is what James says about his Journey at Vision:

What first brought you to Vision, and how were you feeling about your health and fitness back then?
When I first came to vision I had just been on holiday and been quite active. I was hoping that vision could enable me to continue the positive habits I had developed.

What’s one thing you’ve achieved here that still surprises you when you think about it?
The degree of control over my diet and health. Previously I was a very emotional eater, only eating what I wanted and when I wanted to. Vision was able to help me create structure around health eating habits, what was too much and what wasn’t enough.

Can you describe what your journey has looked like since joining Vision – the highs, the hard bits, and what kept you going?
The journey for me was an opportunity to shock me out of my comfort zone. I had become so used to my life and my routine before I joined Vision that I didn’t realise the negative aspects of it. When I then joined Vision I had just come home from a holiday where I had been forced out of that comfort zone and so was in a way prepared for the experience that Vision offers. I didn’t find the change in routine or the change in diet to be the most difficult aspect. The most difficult thing for me was the repetition of going to the gym and in my eyes not seeing the rapid changes that I was expecting in some ways. I understood that the process was going to be long but maybe didn’t understand how long it would all take. That’s where having the community and support from both the other clients at the gym and the trainers really helped. They really provided the support and encouragement that I needed some days to keep going along. That in many ways is what sets Vision apart for me the sense of community and lack of judgment.

How has being part of the Vision community made a difference for you – in or outside the gym?
The community as the gym is a really positive part of the experience. From the opportunities to meet new people on the same journey as you to the support you can receive not just from your own trainer but all the trainers at your gym. You can leave the gym feeling like you have achieved something and have a group of people around you who will support you though your journey.

What would you say to someone who’s in the same shoes you were when you started – maybe nervous, unsure, or stuck?
Your headspace is key. If you want to commit to making a change it doesn’t have to be a large declaration, I would even suggest not telling people you’ve decided to make changes because you have to want to make the changes for yourself. You need to be your own motivation. Want better for yourself because you deserve better. Also structure and routine are your best friends.

What’s next for you – and how do you see everything you’ve learned here helping you stay strong and healthy long-term?
What’s next is to take the next steps in my life. Where as I felt like I was stuck in the one spot, these changes have empower me to be more out going and seek new experiences for myself, I have sought to push my fitness goals but that is not just that. I want to take this opportunity to see what’s next for me with my new sense of self confidence.
