When Emmanuel Rosenberg joined Vision over five years ago, he was at a point where he had started reflecting on what he wanted to achieve. Having just had another birthday, he realised there were plenty of things he had thought about doing over the years, but hadn’t actually gotten around to.

He knew he needed to stop putting things off and start making his health and fitness a priority.

What drew Emmanuel to Vision was the personalised approach. After years of being hit and miss with exercise, he liked the idea of having one-on-one training, a program tailored specifically to him, and someone keeping him accountable. Working with his trainer Martin, training quickly became something Emmanuel genuinely looked forward to.

‘Coming to the gym is something I look forward to. It’s like meeting a friend a couple of times a week, so it’s not just the workout itself.’

And that consistency has led to some achievements Emmanuel once never thought possible.

One of the biggest has been completing triathlons.

‘I never imagined I could do it,’ Emmanuel says. ‘I always looked at people who did triathlons and thought, ‘How do they do that?’ And now I’ve done three or four myself.’

For Emmanuel, crossing the finish line has been about far more than the result. It has been proof of what can happen when he commits to something and sticks with it.

Along the way, Emmanuel has also developed a much more considered approach to nutrition. Taking part in Vision’s weight loss challenge helped him become more conscious of what he was eating, particularly his protein intake and the choices he was making day to day.

But perhaps the biggest change has been the discipline he has built.

‘Training isn’t just showing up at the gym. There’s a discipline behind it,’ Emmanuel says. ‘It’s actually not just what happens in the gym; it spills over into other parts of my life as well.’

Five years on, Emmanuel isn’t finished setting himself challenges. He wants to keep doing triathlons, keep running and, most importantly, stay active and pain-free as he gets older.

His goal is simple: to be the person who can keep doing the things he enjoys, rather than having his age or his body hold him back.

Looking back, his advice to anyone who is still waiting to start is straightforward:

‘Give it a go. You might surprise yourself.’
