Like a lot of women the weight gain was slow but constant. It always felt ‘oh it’s only 2-3 kilos I can lose that easy’, but reality was that 2-3 kilos became 5-6 then 10-12 in 12 months. I finally called in to Vision Sylvania at the end of August 24, after a lovely week away in Port Douglas. It was a relaxing break but I finally realised my attempts at losing weight was adding to it. Ad-hoc dieting and exercise meant I was tired all the time, cranky and overeating when nothing was working.
My meeting on that Friday morning was with Kate. Kate was easy to talk to, respectful of my concerns but very encouraging . I agreed to start the next day with my body scan and goal setting with my allocated trainer Chris.
First step completed,next step was quite daunting,the dreaded weigh-in and body scan!
Chris was lovely and explained everything on the scans, and I felt the plan was achievable as it was 3 monthly check ins and not excessive. Seeing your data in print started the spark that has kept me going, my bio age had added 5 years to my recently celebrated birthday.
The friendly atmosphere at vision is a catalyst to the effort and success I have achieved. The friendly greetings as you walk in the door using your name by all the trainers not just Chris, inspires you to give your all as you feel seen and not just a body on the books. I started small with just my 2 weekly PT sessions and slowly the weight dropped. Chris encouraged joining the group classes and they have become a regular part of my week. I have even become a morning exerciser joining the Wednesday morning run club even though I don’t run. Step 3 has changed my mindset in a way that has become increasingly important, I am better after exercise!
Step 4 the Vision food tracking app. Hard to get your head into but it really does show what you eat affects your results. I use the app everyday and my results are due to seeing the calories when planning meals for the day, smaller portions and small changes when accounting for celebrations, unexpected nights out.
Eight months in my Vision experience has taught me that the effort I put in is magnified by the support I receive from my family, my friends, the vision community, the vision trainers and especially my trainer Chris. Chris is encouraging, knowledgeable and supportive and without his support my achievements in weight loss and mindset change would be different.
I feel great even though I still have more weight to lose. I look better, feel better and I know I am in a better head space after joining Vision. The compliments I receive on the changes to my life started because of that first day , it truly has changed me .
