The Wollongong Triathlon in April this year was one of the most fun challenges we have ever been involved in. The thrill of being in a triathlon was amazing... but can’t swim, can’t ride or can’t run very far!

According to Max that’s wasn't a problem, just register for the Super Sprint, ask your friends to enter and choose your preferred section! The distances are all very achievable and you’ll have a lot of fun being in the team event.

Team Tryhards was born and we entered the Super Sprint Event.

Dawn, Cindy & Glenda.

Distances – Swim 200 metres, Bike 10kms and Run 2kms.

Being in an event with your best mates is such a lot of fun. Pre race prep was essential. We commenced our journey with a team road trip to Wollongong with our Vision approved snacks from Dawns air fryer. Our chosen budget room was above the pub’s dance floor and the squeezy dimensions of the room made for a lot of laughing. Max organised a lovely community dinner with our fellow Visionaries which was followed by pre race facemasks and a good night sleep.

The next morning it was down to business.

Glenda trained had trained like a pro for her swimming as she wanted a good time and didn’t want Cindy waiting too long to start her bike leg. A smooth transition to Cindy who, on a borrowed bike and having some practice beforehand, made it seem effortless! Streaming through on the bike and then passing the baton to Dawn our marathon queen! Bringing us home strong and with some encouragement from team mate Cindy and the roar of the crowd, Dawn cross the line to champion the tri-hards debut race in first place!

The real win was the fun and support of everyone on the day. With the staggered times of each event, we could watch everyone start their race and cheer them on. It was really an exciting atmosphere and great to either just be there supporting or competing and something we really did not think would be possible.

To celebrate our efforts and wins, we capped off with a team lunch to share our stories, unwind for the day and see who had caught the triathlon bug!

It was very memorable day and we Tri-Hards had the best time! While we were proud to take our category wins, the real prize was the being a part of the fun and the memories that will last a lifetime.
