Most people when it comes to losing weight have tried at one time or another to get a 'quick fix'. The sad news is there isn't a quick fix, but there is a magic pill! 

The magic pill is amazing. You only need to take it twice a week and it has some pretty serious side effects. On top of firing up your metabolism for between 3-5 days, you will also experience a few of these things:

  • An increase in energy.
  • A reduction in bone mineral loss and therefore ward off osteoporosis.
  • A lower resting heart rate which can also bring down high blood pressure.
  • A better response to blood glucose, that means less diabetes risk or if you have diabetes less medication potentially!
  • Faster transit time of food in your intestine! That will help reduce colon cancer risk.
  • Improved strength to make daily tasks easier

Sounds like a pretty good pill right! And I know where I can get you some… but first, let's chat about some other things you can be doing to improve your weight loss.

One of the things we are blessed with in Australia is the best outdoors anywhere! It is safe, clean and particularly on the Gold Coast where we are, the weather is amazing! One of the best things you can be doing of your health and weight loss is taking advantage of the great outdoors, getting a little sun with your exercise has some amazing benefits! Firstly, don't get sunburnt, that's silly, but you do need some sun. One of the biggest benefits of getting some sun is your skin makes Vitamin D from sunlight and Vitamin D is critical. It helps your immune system fight disease, it helps your mood and gives you a more general sense of wellbeing and most importantly it is vital in the uptake of calcium to your bones. In fact, people who live in low sunlight areas have huge problems from Vitamin D deficiency. 

My suggestion for better weight loss is to get out in the morning. The sun is less severe and you take advantage of some mild ketosis. The mild ketosis happens when you haven't eaten for an extended period of time. If you eat a good dinner without too many carbs and then sleep for a good period of time when you wake up your body is primed to burn fat! In some people your body will burn fat as 80% of your energy rather than the normal 50%. That means if you get up and go before you have breakfast you get some great fat burning done, you get sunlight and produce Vitamin D. Then all you need is the magic pill to really get things moving!

If you haven't guessed, the magic pill is strength training. One thing many people don't understand about lifting weights is what the benefits really are. When you lift weights, provided they are heavy enough, you are creating micro tears of the muscles that when repaired get stronger. The best part is that repairing those mini tears takes energy. So, after a weights session you are burning more energy when you walk, sleep and when you wake up and do your morning cardio! How great is that! If you have done a great job, by lifting really heavy and safely so you don't do any injuries with some good solid compound exercises it can take 5-7 days for your body to complete the recovery! That means more fat burning day and night! 

If you are scared of looking bulky or too muscular, fear not. Just speak to anyone one who is obsessed with putting on more muscle and they will tell you how much work goes into building more muscle. It is hard! you have to eat completely differently, be careful not to burn off too much doing cardio and sleep LOTS! For most of us, the conditions aren't right for that kind of muscle building. For most people, you will feel better, perform better, burn more fat and look great! So, take the pill… it works!
