Here at Vision, we understand that losing weight can be a challenging process when you don't have the right support and guidance. We often hear "I can't stay motivated". Now, it's true motivation ebbs and flows - it will never be constant. That's why utilising strategies to maintain your momentum on your way to achieving your goals can be really helpful.

In this article, we share some strategies to help you maintain your motivation on your weight loss journey.

  1. Set Specific & Realistic Goals: Start by setting clear, specific, and achievable weight loss goals. Avoid vague goals like "losing weight" and instead set targets like "losing 10 kg's in 2 months." With Vision, your program will commence with a Goals Session with your Personal Trainer to ensure specific but also realistic goals are set. This ensures you're set up for success from the very beginning. Having specific goals gives you something concrete to work towards and helps you track your progress, which can boost your motivation.
  2. Create a Plan: Develop a well-structured plan that outlines the steps you need to take to achieve your weight loss goals. With Vision, your Trainer will design a program to suit you, and only you. Your program will detail the specific mix of cardio and weight training to get the balance just right for your individual goals. Having a plan in place provides a roadmap for your weight loss journey and helps you stay on track.
  3. Find Your "Why": Understanding your personal reasons for wanting to lose weight can be a powerful motivator. Reflect on why you want to lose weight and how it will improve your life. Your "why" could be to improve your health, boost your self-confidence, or be more active with your kids. Keep your reasons in mind when your motivation wanes, and remind yourself of the benefits you'll gain from achieving your weight loss goals. Our Personal Trainers take the time to get to know you and understand what drives you towards achieving your goals.
  4. Break It Down: Losing a significant amount of weight can feel overwhelming. Break your weight loss goal into smaller, more manageable milestones. Here at Vision, we make sure you goals are both realistic and sustainable. Celebrate each milestone along the way, such as losing 5 kg or fitting into a smaller clothing size. This helps you stay motivated by giving you a sense of accomplishment and progress.
  5. Surround Yourself with Support: Having a support system can make a big difference in staying motivated. Share your weight loss goals with friends, family, or a supportive community. Surrounding yourself with people who encourage and support your weight loss journey can help you stay accountable and motivated. Lifelong friendships and a supportive new circle are the norm at our Vision Studio’s. Immersed in a friendly fun environment, our Studios will become your home away from home.
  6. Track Your Progress: Seeing your progress over time can be motivating and help you stay on track. Celebrate your successes and learn from any setbacks to keep moving forward. With our complimentary MyVision app, it will show you just how far you’ve come! It tracks your body weight in graph format that makes your results something to be truly proud of!
  7. Reward Yourself: Treat yourself when you achieve your weight loss milestones. However, be careful not to use food as a reward, as it can create an unhealthy relationship with food. Instead, choose non-food rewards, such as buying yourself new workout gear, treating yourself to a spa day, or taking a day off to relax. Rewards can help reinforce positive behaviors and keep you motivated.
  8. Stay Positive & Practice Self-Compassion: Losing weight can be challenging, and there may be setbacks along the way. It's important to stay positive and practice self-compassion. Be kind to yourself, forgive yourself for any slip-ups, and focus on the progress you've made. Avoid negative self-talk and instead cultivate a positive and supportive mindset towards yourself and your weight loss journey.

Remember that staying motivated to lose weight is a process, and it's normal to have ups and downs. By setting specific goals, creating a plan, finding your "why," tracking your progress, surrounding yourself with support, and practicing self-compassion, you can stay motivated and achieve your weight loss goals. Having a Personal Trainer is a great way to not only stay motivated but also stay accountable to someone other than yourself.  For more information on how our Personal Trainers can help you achieve your goals and stay motivated, click here to Book a Free Consultation
