Client from Drummoyne | Trainer: Paulie Kapeleris
When Susan first joined Vision Personal Training Drummoyne, she wanted to take control of her health and feel like herself again. Years of knee pain caused by arthritis, the challenges of menopause, and uncertainty around nutrition were making it harder to stay active and enjoy the things she loved.
With the support of her trainer, Paulie, Susan focused on building sustainable habits rather than following another restrictive diet. Learning to use the MyVision App’s food tracker completely changed the way she looked at nutrition. She discovered smarter food choices, from healthier fast food options to simple and satisfying meals, whilst also increasing her protein intake. The biggest surprise? She was never hungry.
Alongside her nutrition, Susan committed to progressive strength training in her PT sessions. Having every workout planned, tracked and progressed for her meant she never had to wonder what to do next, while knowing someone was waiting for her each session kept her accountable and consistent.
As her strength improved, so did her confidence. The weight came off, her menopause symptoms became more manageable, and losing 12kg (she was nearly 80kgs), helped eliminate the arthritic knee pain that had once held her back.
One of Susan's proudest achievements has been getting back to the activities she loves. After building strength through her glutes and hips, her back pain disappeared, allowing her to start running for the first time in years. Since then, she's completed several 5km and 10km fun runs!
For Susan, the Vision community has been just as important as the training itself. Whether she's lifting weights or walking on the treadmill, she's surrounded by people who encourage and support one another, making every visit something to look forward to rather than another workout to get through.
Susan's journey has also inspired her husband, Steve, to join Vision. Together they've embraced a healthier lifestyle, with Steve becoming stronger, improving his asthma, getting sick less often, and focusing on injury prevention.
Today, Susan is continuing to set new goals instead of limits. She's currently training for future running events and an 80km gravel cycling event, proving that it's never too late to become stronger, healthier and more capable than you ever thought possible.
Congratulations, Susan. Your determination, positivity and willingness to embrace change have been inspiring to everyone at Vision Drummoyne, and we can't wait to see what you achieve next!
