Staying Consistent During Winter

We all know this time of year we would rather be under the blankets.

We all know this time of year we would rather be under the blankets than coming for a run on the treadmill or to a group training session (and we have seen this firsthand), even the shorter days make it harder to get out for a walk!

We want to help you feel strong and confident in your body not just for summer, but all year long! But did you know, cold weather workouts can burn more calories?

The most important thing is to keep to a routine, if you made it work during the warmer months, you can make it work now. When that alarm goes off on a cold Monday morning jump out of bed and get ready for the gym, without thinking about it, have your clothes laid out ready so you can get dressed quicker. If possible, come straight to the gym from work in the evening. Once you start moving you don’t notice the cold as much anyway. Have a plan of what you are going to do when you come in so don’t waste time being cold wondering what to do.
Think of your goal. It’s the reason you got out of bed in the warmer months, so the same should apply in the winter. If it doesn’t then you need to think of a new goal, one that motivates you, maybe set a short-term goal. For example, 1kgs in the next 2 weeks and go from there.

We also tend to eat more in the colder months, as hot food warms us up. Not always a bad thing and it can the perfect time to make a healthy soup or a healthy casserole or mince, and its easy to make a big pot of it so that there is always leftovers! So set that alarm and get up in the morning and get to the gym, do that workout, do that group session, you and your body will thank you for it.
