Protein is one of the three vital macronutrients and is often the one that we have trouble reaching the most.

Protein requirements will vary depending on your goals, whether that is fat loss, muscle gain, fitness or maintenance.

Here are just a few of the reasons why you should always be trying to get those numbers green in your food diary!

Eating an adequate amount of protein is essential for muscle tissue growth, muscle tissue maintenance and muscle tissue repair.

If we are constantly falling short of our protein macros, we run the risk of potentially losing muscle mass or not putting on as much muscle mass as we could be as your recovery will not be as efficient as it could be. As a result of losing muscle mass, our metabolism will slow down. If you think of your metabolism like an engine in a car, bigger engines will burn more fuel, same goes for our bodies, the bigger our engine (muscle mass) the more fuel (energy) we will burn! So, it's in everyone's best interest to hit those macros, especially protein if you want to see great results!

Here are just some other PROs of PROtein

They are an essential component of building healthy bones, muscles, cartilage, skin and blood.

Protein also makes us feel full which can help reduce the cravings for high carbohydrate and high fat foods.

It can also boost your immune system.

It can help you recover quicker from injuries.

It has also been shown to reduce high blood pressure.

So, make sure you're PROactive about hitting your PROtein to ensure you're always making PROgress.
