Last year (2022) was the year for me to start making some changes in my life. My youngest son had just finished high school and I knew this was the time to find “me” again. Apart from needing to lose weight, I also wanted to be fitter and to address my long-term health needs. I joined Vision on the recommendation of a friend, but also because I knew that I needed the support and accountability that comes from working with a personal trainer.
Working with my trainer, I have been able to set realistic goals and have even dared to dream about doing things I haven’t done for years. Beyond the physical changes, I have worked to overcome injuries which has enabled me to go snow skiing for the time in 16 years; gain the confidence to participate in the Spartan challenge and significantly improve my overall health score. The most important thing that I have learned in the process is that my reason for wanting these changes must be greater than any of the obstacles that may come along.
My whole outlook on life has changed and this has flowed into my family life, my work and in setting healthy boundaries for myself. I have found a new love and challenge in weight training and boxing, and I am currently working towards building my own training programs. There always seems to be a new goal that I can aim for, and I am absolutely loving the challenge!
