Marko’s health and fitness journey is a powerful reminder that weight loss is not just about reaching a number on the scale—it’s about embracing a lifelong transformation. Through dedication, support, and self-discovery, he has moved beyond diets and quick fixes to become the person he was truly meant to be. Here, Marko shares his honest reflections on the challenges, breakthroughs, and the community that helped him redefine his limits.

What first brought you to Vision, and how were you feeling about your health and fitness back then?

Fitness and physical well-being have been challenges I’ve struggled with my entire life, up until the end of high school. In 2022, just after turning 18, I finally decided to do something about it. There were plenty of ups and downs along the way, but over a two-year period, I managed to lose a total of 35 kg. However, from 2024 onwards, breaking through my plateaus became harder and harder. That’s when, on the recommendation of a friend, I decided to get a personal trainer. I first discovered Vision while researching nearby options. After deciding that Vision offered exactly what I was looking for, I sent a message—and I’ve been very happy with my progress ever since.

What’s one thing you’ve achieved here that still surprises you when you think about it?

Since joining Vision, the thing that still amazes me is the progress I’ve made so far. After so many years of trying and failing, then trying again, it felt easy to give up and accept who I was. Having a personal trainer who has kept me accountable has made such a difference!

Can you describe what your journey has looked like since joining Vision—the highs, the hard bits, and what kept you going?

My journey since joining Vision has been one filled with positivity and hope. As I was new to the gym environment, starting out felt a bit daunting. However, after my first session with James, I felt no need to be afraid. As the weeks progressed, I noticed that I became more confident in the gym and in the exercises I was doing. Although there were some bumps along the way, growing closer with my trainer helped me open up about myself. By discussing my habits through an honest lens, we created goals that were relevant—and, most importantly, realistic. Being accountable and keeping those goals in mind helped redefine my limits and who I was as a person.

How has being part of the Vision community made a difference for you—in or outside the gym?

Being part of the Vision community has helped me see that the gym isn’t a place you should be afraid of. Before joining Vision, I had always felt like I lacked the confidence needed to join a gym. I had built the idea in my head that you needed to look a certain way. However, after consistently attending the gym and interacting with the community, I’ve seen otherwise. Looking back now, it’s clear to me that the gym is a space where everyone should feel welcome to be a part of.

What would you say to someone who’s in the same shoes you were when you started—maybe nervous, unsure, or stuck?

It’s safe to say that weight loss isn’t an easy thing for most people. For me, it was a roller coaster of ups and downs, driven by a cycle of failed diets and programs. I would often make grand plans and fantasise about how perfect life would be once I had crossed the finish line. Although this motivated me in the short term, I always found myself falling back into my old ways. It was only when a good friend of mine helped me realise the truth: the weight-loss journey is a lifelong one. After making changes to my lifestyle, something clicked. It didn’t feel like I was just on another diet—it felt like I was becoming the person I was meant to be.

What’s next for you—and how do you see everything you’ve learned here helping you stay strong and healthy long-term?

I can confidently say, for what feels like the first time, that the future is something I feel very positive about. Throughout my life, the one constant that held me back was the way I perceived myself. I lacked the confidence to try new experiences, go to new places, and meet new people. Now that I’ve finally learned to be comfortable in my own skin, it feels like I can finally start living.
