Step 1 - Pre planning!

As the saying goes, prior planning prevents poor performance. Plan your week around events, work out when you'll fit in your training and cardio. Plan your nutrition, if you're going out for dinner, limit your carb intake for the day and drink water in between alcoholic drinks.

Step 2 - Avoid going to events hungry!

Eat something small before the event to reduce your chances of snacking on high calorie party food

Step 3 - Watch your portion sizes.

If your will power is weak and you know you will want to finish everything in front of you, use an entrée plate instead of a dinner plate. That way you are sure not to overeat

Step 4 - Be active with friends and family.

Most family traditions include being sedentary, such as sitting on the couch and watching TV. Inactivity may contribute to weight gain especially with over eating at this time of the year. Doing some sort of physical activity with loved ones, something simple like a family walk will take your mind of food and spend quality time with the people that mean most

Step 5 - Bring a healthy dish to share.

It's very easy to over eat on high calorie dense food. Being in control will prevent the unwanted anxiety when invited to events. This way you're assured you'll be eating something that align with your goals.

Christmas period is a great time to catch up with friends and family but with these simple tips and being mindful of your goals you are guaranteed to still enjoy good quality, tasty treats in moderation and avoid unwanted weight gain
