Try different recipes

At first going on a new nutrition plan is daunting but that's because it's the UNKNOWN… We think that we're going to have to eat 5 salads, 3 protein shakes and a kg of chicken seven days a week! This couldn't be further from the truth. Reality is, an effective long-term nutrition plan should incorporate regular carbohydrates, proteins, fats and vegetables but most importantly, one that is tailored for you that you can follow. That means that if you do not want to have a kg of chicken every day you won't have to, or if you don't like protein shakes you won't have to - you and your trainer will go through any barriers and together will come up with alternative options so it is a plan that you can follow.

Rome wasn't built in a day

Figure out if it's a lifestyle change you want or a quick fix as you can't do both. Quick fixes do work, but are extremely unhealthy (often lacking high amounts of vitamins and minerals), un-sustainable and creates poor eating habits which usually leads to many people yo-yo dieting. Whereas if you are looking for a lifestyle change, results will not happen as fast but you will be eating nutritious meals full of energy and most importantly creating healthy nutrition habits that will give you LIFE LONG results. So what is the more effective option??

Open communication

The more transparent you are with your trainer the more effective your trainer can help you. There's no point in lying about what you did/didn't do in the weekend as this only slows down your progress which could also lead to frustration for both parties.

Trust your Trainer

Your trainer has your best intentions in mind and wants you to reach your goals. That means there's a reason behind everything that he/she gets you to do and if you don't think so or know then question them to help further your education.

Leaving all worries at the door

First thing most people think when they start at a gym is "I hope people don't watch me make a fool of myself" or "I'm so weak compared to that person". Stop doing this right NOW!

Promise yourself that when you walk through the front door it is you and just you that all your attention is on. Don't worry about what anyone else is doing because really it has nothing to do with you. What everyone else does has ZERO impact towards your progress, what matters is what you do while in the gym. So start focusing more on yourself and looking forward to your achievements - because there are a lot to come!
